Top-floor gutter on a multifamily build
Your build
Where gutters, soffit and fascia fit in your build
Gutters belong on the finished roof edge, once the roof and siding are done. They should be up before the ground around the house is finished, so the first rain does not wash against the new foundation.
If your builder is hiring us, we work through them. If you are hiring us yourself, we work with your builder.

Get it right
Builder-grade gutters are not always enough for your roof
Ask your builder what size gutter is on the plan. A 5-inch gutter is common and fits many roofs. A larger or more complex roof can need 6-inch gutters with 3x4 downspouts, which carry about twice the water of a standard 2x3.
Valera looks at your roof and tells you which size it needs. He does not guess, and he will not sell you more than the roof calls for.
- 5-inch or 6-inch K-styleSeamless gutters cut to fit your roofline in one piece per run.
- 3x4 downspoutsLarger outlets that move roof water away from a new foundation faster.
- Soffit and fascia in one placeGutter, soffit and fascia from the same company.
- Leaf guards for treed lotsHelpful on pine and hardwood lots. They cut cleaning, they do not end it.
- Vinyl soffit and fascia wrapNew soffit vented where the attic needs air, and fascia wrapped to last.
Clay and water
Upstate red clay drains slowly. Send the water away
Much of the Piedmont sits on red clay. Water that lands near a new foundation soaks in slowly and stays put. A gutter that spills at the wall can undo a good build.
We point every downspout away from the house, with extensions that run out with a slope.
- Spouts that clear the wallDownspouts land well away from the foundation, not at the corner.
- Fewer places to leakSeamless runs have joints only at corners, end caps and outlets, all sealed.
- Fascia checked firstStraight, sound fascia boards before the gutter is hung.

Questions
Quick answers
- When should gutters go on a new house?
- On the finished roof edge, before the ground around the house is finished. That keeps the new foundation dry and avoids digging up finished ground later.
- What size gutters does my new house need?
- It depends on the roof. Five-inch gutters fit many houses. A large or complex roof may need 6-inch gutters with 3x4 downspouts. Valera looks at your roof at the estimate and tells you which one.
- Can I hire you directly, or do I go through my builder?
- Either. If your contract has the builder hiring subs, we work through them. If you are hiring us yourself, we coordinate with your builder on timing and downspout locations.
- Can I choose the gutter and soffit?
- Yes. We install 5-inch or 6-inch K-style seamless gutters with vinyl soffit and aluminum fascia wrap. Call Valera at (864) 800-9663 to talk through what suits your house.
- Do I need leaf guards on a new house?
- Not always. They help on lots with pine and hardwood trees, but no guard removes all cleaning. We tell you plainly whether your lot is a good fit.
